Tasty Blue is a 2D kids mobile and PC game developed and published by Dingo Games in 2015. It is a spin-off of the 2006 game Tasty Planet. The goal of the game in each level is to reach a certain size by eating stuff. Certain stuff can harm the player's character, descreasing their size.
Plot
The game starts with a kid entering a pet store. The kid sees a goldfish with a sign underneath it saying 'Do not overfeed'. The kid buys the goldfish and ignores the sign, overfeeding the goldfish. The goldfish grows and escapes through a pipe, where it begins to eat stuff such as other fishes and sea trash. As it grows, it also eats people, buildings and vehicles. The kid sees the goldfish and goes back to the pet store, saying to the clerk that he overfed it. The goldfish then eats the kid and the clerk, who appear to be still alive inside it. At a zoo, a man and other people watch from a phone news about the goldfish. A dolphin that was behind a window hears it, and gets the idea of eating stuff. Apparently the dolphin eats stuff, animals and people, also growing and becoming huge. Two scientists at the artic were doing an experiment. A man from a radio thanks to them but then talks about the goldfish and the dolphin. One of the scientists makes a 'nano-shark'. He claims to the other one that the nano-shark will grow like the goldfish and the dolphin and eat them. This came to success. However, the nano-shark ends up eating Earth (from inside) and the Universe (while we do not know if the Nano Shark succeeded in that, since the Nano Shark presumably did it instead of us watching it actually eat the entire Universe).
Why It Sucks
- The plot is roughly similar to that of Tasty Planet; both have a very similar ending, since it involves a certain character eating the entire universe.
- It feels like three games put together.
- Animal cruelty. One of the levels require you to consume a certain number of penguins in order to complete the level.
- Idiotic characters.
- The gameplay, although slightly different than the previous games, feels like it started at space already.
- Multiple plot holes and unexplained events.
- Confusing designs. The biggest Zooplankton in the game looks like a crouching krill, for some reason
- Similar to Tasty Planet, it has repetitive music with weird instruments that can get stuck in the heads of hyperausic people.
- How is there soft soil at the bottom of the ocean that make a 'hole' slightly bigger than the biggest ships?
- Yet again, this game is too terrifying for children, despite being aimed at children.
- False Advertising: The Goldfish never manages to get into space, as shown at the application cover.
- Poor attempts at humor, such as the fisherman joke (I caught a fisherman once) .
- The ending cutscene somehow shows that you were not supposed to consume Antartica. However, since you can consume Antartica, that makes the ending cutscene broken.
- The Scientist and his colleague from Tasty Planet return in this game. They are literal idiots like how they were in Tasty Planet.
- In fact, the Scientist's plan of the nano-shark was suicide, similar to his plan in Tasty Planet.
Redeeming Qualities
- Like Tasty Planet, it can teach you some mathematics and biology.
- Compared to Tasty Planet, Tasty Blue has been played by some YouTubers.
- It has multiplayer, similar to Tasty Planet: Back For Seconds.
